In 2020, House of Maverick was created. Maverick- founder, Abi, was previously a manager of a prestigious salon in Hampshire for 10 years. Encouraged by her clients and colleagues, she decided it was finally time to open her very own salon.
The name “Maverick” was a nick-name Abi was branded with during her training, a name she took ownership of. Maverick, meaning ‘to not be afraid to be prominent and different, a trend setter, a free thinker’. This is an ethos in which Abi firmly believes in when it comes to hairdressing and styling, and adapting to client’s individual hair- needs and wishes.
This also applies to all the House of Maverick stylists, whose individual skills are celebrated within the salon and encouraged.
House of Maverick opened in Lee on Solent’s high street, during the pandemic. Times were difficult, but the salon thrived, and 6 months after opening, Nic, Ellen and Kaitlyn joined the team after following Abi from their pervious salon. With the clientele numbers continuing to rise, it became clear that the salon was not big enough. When the nearby renowned Strawberry Workshop salon was seen to be available, with its larger facilities and highly esteemed team, Abi jumped at the chance to buy and expand.
Strawberry workshop owner Sue was ready to retire after an amazing 37 successful years in the business. Most of the Strawberry team had been working within the salon for over 20 years after completing their apprenticeships within the salon. This was a credit to Sue’s achievements, something Abi hoped to aspire too.
Sue and Abi worked together to make the transition smooth and successful.
Today two salon teams have blended as one, with stylists and beauty therapists offering a wide range of services and treatments to our ever growing, wonderful House of Maverick clientele.
